City Police kept busy over the weekend with drunk drivers
WOODSTOCK - When it comes to refraining from driving after drinking, Woodstock residents aren't getting the message.
Over the long weekend, City Police laid charges against four impaired drivers.
On Friday night, police received a call stating their shed on Finkle Street had been entered through an unlocked window and alcohol was taken.
On Saturday, officers noticed a van fail to stop at a stop sign on Springbank at Mohican. Police say the driver had been drinking and was found to be in the warn range. A 37 year old man, who police have not named is charged with failing to stop at a stop sign and was issued a three day licence suspension as well, his vehicle was towed.
Then on Sunday, officers pulled over a vehicle on Kent Street near Dundas and noticed that driver had been drinking as well and didn't have their license on them. As a result, 54 year old Outhay Vongsasanoubane of Woodstock is charged with impaired driving, driving over the legal limit and driving while disqualified. His vehicle was also towed and impounded.
On Monday, police received a call about a possible impaired driver on Mill Street in the area of the 401. Police tracked the vehicle to Frances Street, where they found a man in the drivers seat of the vehicle who they claim had been drinking. 56 year old Norman Baigent of Woodstock is charged with impaired driving and driving over the legal limit.
Then on Tuesday, just after 12:30am police were called about a possible impaired driver on Norwich Avenue. Police found the suspect vehicle in a restaurant parking lot and determined the driver had been drinking. 18 year old Trevor Fleming of Norfolk County was charged with impaired driving and driving over the legal limit. He had his driver's license suspended for 90 days as well.
