Addressing Safety Concerns at Central Public School

Central Public School and Active & Safe Routes to school are teaming up to make parent drop off safer.

WOODSTOCK - Parent drop off at Central Public School is starting to become a safety concern for the school community.

Active & Safe Routes to School Co-chair, Kelly Vanderhoeven, addresses some of the schools safety concerns.

"Rolling stops at the intersections around the school. Lots of jay walking amongst the students and parents around the school."

Active & Safe Routes to School is teaming up with Central Public School to hold a neighbourhood walkabout to find some safe alternatives.

Vanderhoeven says what exactly it is that they will be doing.

"We're going to go on this walk and we're going to look at the areas of concern and we're going to talk about each of them and we're going to talk about the solutions to overcome the issues."

The walkabout itself will be about 45 to 60 minutes. A debrief will follow immediately afterwards and will also be about 45 to 60 minutes.

The walkabout will start at Central Public School next Wednesday March 7th at 9:30 am for parents, students and community stakeholders.

Members of the media are welcomed to photograph people on the walkabout.
