Renovations look to help church appeal to young families in Woodstock

A new play land that's been built in Woodstock's Calvary Church would rival what you would find in some fast food restaurants.

And the Church will be opening it up for free to young families in Woodstock in the New Year.

Lead Pastor of the Church, Jeff Price says it's about appealing to young families in Woodstock.  "Having young kids myself, I know moms are looking for a place to give their kids a little bit of a break.  So we wanted to create something here that would meet that.  Let your kids run around, the play structure has slides and all kinds of really fun stuff, and sit with your friends and talk while your kids have a blast running and playing on this awesome play structure."

The 2-storey play structure will be available for public use from 9AM - Noon on Mondays and Wednesdays starting January 20th.

You can also enjoy a beverage while your kids play.  The Church has also opened up a cafe, where proceeds going towards a good cause.  "We've created a really cool cafe that has slushies and all the specialty coffees and lattes and everything else.  But all the proceeds of that goes towards rescuing girls from sex slavery in Calcutta, India.  We wanted a creative way to help raise awareness to one of the biggest issues happening in our world today: human trafficking and sex slavery."

The Calvary Church building on Lansdowne is only 10-years-old, but has undergone a major renovation to appeal to a younger crowd.

Price says the changes are meant to reflect what their Church is, which is creative and fun.

He says many in the congregation comment to him that Church at Calvary doesn't feel like a Church.
