Councillors Hear Concerns Over Coffee

An informal meet up will give residents of EZT a chance to voice their concerns over a cup of coffee.

EZT - A couple of councillors in East Zorra Tavistock are inviting residents out for a cup of coffee.

Deputy Mayor Maureen Ralph and Councillor Shirley McCall-Hanlon are hosting the session at the Innerkip Arms this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Ralph says everyone is invited to stop by and ask questions or raise concerns about anything going on at council right now.

"We have already dealt with the boundary adjustment issue but another item that council is dealing with at this time is our current administration building. As you might be aware council currently no longer meets at the Township of Hickson we have our meetings at the Oxford County Administration building in Woodstock."

She notes they have held similar events in Hickson and in Tavistock and they were surprised at the response from the community.

"So we were pleasantly surprised when we had our event on a Saturday morning in Tavistock. We used a local coffee shop as a venue, we had about 12 residents show up and we more or less just came in and sat around a table, kind of like sitting around your kitchen table at home. We had a great dialogue, plenty of concerns were brought up and a lot of resolutions were given to us by the ratepayers and it was a really enjoyable event."
