COVID-19 Vaccine Bookings Start Tomorrow for SW Public Health

Starting tomorrow, local seniors 80 and over and indigenous adults 55 and over can book a COVID-19 vaccination appointment in Woodstock or St. Thomas.

OXFORD COUNTY - Eligible residents in Oxford County, Elgin County and the City of St. Thomas will be able to start booking a COVID-19 vaccine appointment on Tuesday March 9 at 8 am.

Southwestern Public Health has developed two mass vaccination sites at Goff Hall in Woodstock and the St. Thomas-Elgin Memorial Arena in St. Thomas. Both sites will be up and running and administering vaccines next week.

Adults 80 years of age and older (80+), and Indigenous adults ages 55 and older, are invited to book an appointment online starting tomorrow. You can book your COVID-19 appointment online or by telephone:

- To book an appointment online go to www.covidvaccinelm.ca. Locate the City of St. Thomas Memorial Arena option or the City of Woodstock Goff Hall option from the location dropdown menu.
- To book an appointment by phone call 226-289-3560 (8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Sunday)
- The appointments opening on Tuesday are for the week of March 15, 2021.

Program Manager of the COVID-19 Vaccination Task Force Jamie Fletcher says blocks of appointments open based on vaccine supply.

"There will be enough vaccine for everyone. No one will be left behind. If you do not get an appointment on the first day, or cannot get through by phone, don’t panic. You will have an opportunity to try again very shortly. More appointments will become available regularly."

Those being vaccinated are welcome to bring a support person with them to their appointment only if they require assistance related to any mobility, visual, hearing or cognitive concern. Their support person can attend the appointment with them if they pass a COVID-19 screening questionnaire upon arrival. Support people will not be able to receive the vaccine unless they are also eligible and have an appointment. It is also important for those being vaccinated to understand that they should arrive at the appointment time only. To ensure physical distancing, there will be no line ups so please arrive “just on time,” wearing a short-sleeved shirt and wearing a face-covering.

You are also asked to bring a completed consent form to your appointment to avoid delays at the clinic. Consent forms are available at www.swpublichealth.ca/vaccineconsent.
