ECE Recognition

93 Early Childhood Educators get much needed praise at special event

Oxford County's Early Childhood Educators got a much needed pat on the back Wednesday.

The County held a special recognition event for ECE workers at the CAW hall yesterday.

County Human Services Manager Linda Bartlett says the County has 93 early childhood educators.

"I think its important for them to realize how much we appreciate the contribution they make to the children of Oxford County."

Pam Haggin says she has been in an early childhood educator for forty years.

"We're sometimes a field that is sort of neglected because they think of us as glorified babysitters and we're not. We are early childhood educators and we honour what we do and we're here because we are passionate for what we do and we want to give the best we can to children."

40 year veteran Janet Bragg says she was very excited for the celebration.

"An event like this tonight just recognizes all of the hard work we put in over the years and I think it's long over due."
