EMS Workers Show Their Heart

They came, they rode, they conquered. A group of 8 Oxford EMS workers bike at least 50-kilometres in this past weekend's Becel Ride for Heart in Toronto. They also each raised over $1000 which goes back into the community through the Heart & Stroke Foundation. The money, now over $10,000 will be used to purchase Public Access Defibrillators to be placed here in Oxford County. The locations for the defibrillators will be announced at a later date. Oxford EMS Field Supervisor Russell Chase participated for a second straight year. "We all finished with no problem. It was a bit of a slug up some of the hills, but it was fun and just a good team effort and fun to ride together." There were some 15-thousand bikers in total that were in the ride that sees the Gardner Expressway and Don Valley Parkway shut down for the event.
