OPP Briefs include a 17 year old who hit a parked car and a hydro pole causing a power outage in Tillsonburg, $6,000 in tools stolen from a construction site in Ingersoll, Stolen truck recovered in Zorra and more vehicle entries in Ingersoll.

TILLSONBURG - A 17 year old from Oxford County is facing a number of charges after crashing into a hydro pole. 

Police say the teen hit the hydro pole on Otter Court on Monday night, just after 11. OPP say the teen failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, lost control of his vehicle, hitting a parked car and then the hydro pole. The crash caused a power outage in the area. 

Officers patrolling the area subsequently located the driver along with passengers that had fled from the vehicle. It was determined that a passenger suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to a local area hospital to be treated.

The driver is facing several charges including careless driving and fail to remain.

INGERSOLL - Oxford OPP say about $6,000 in tools were stolen from a home currently under construction on Whiting Street in Ingersoll. 

The break and enter happened sometime over the weekend. Once inside the home, the thief or thieves stole a number of construction tools consisting of benches, scaffolding, large power tools and other various smaller tools.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact Oxford OPP or Crime Stoppers.

ZORRA TOWNSHIP - Oxford OPP have recovered a stolen pickup truck on 37th line in Zorra Township. 

The truck was discovered by an employee of the County on Tuesday morning. It was heavily damaged and abandoned on the side of the roadway. Police determined that it was a 2017 Nissan Frontier that had been stolen earlier that morning from a driveway in Ingersoll. 

It appears that the truck left the roadway rolling over causing significant damage. The attending officers were unable to locate anyone with injuries and are continuing to investigate.

INGERSOLL - Oxford OPP are investigating after a paddle for a canoe was stolen from a home on Pemberton Street in Ingersoll. 

Police say the paddle was taken on Monday evening around 5:45. 

Through the course of investigation, it was determined that a resident had left their canoe by the river and someone stole their paddle.

INGERSOLL - Police are preaching lock it or lose it after more vehicle entries in Ingersoll. 

Police say someone stole pair of sunglasses and rummaged through two vehicles parked on Thames Street South overnight on Monday. 

Members of the Oxford County OPP are continuing to investigate and are seeking the public's assistance with this investigation. If anyone has any information they are being asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
