Face Masks Required At Hospitals In Ingersoll And Tillsonburg

In a press release yesterday, both hospitals say they have moved all patients and essential visitors to wear a face mask while inside of the buildings.

INGERSOLL/TILLSONBURG - Anyone entering the Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll (AHI) and Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital are required to wear a face mask.

Effective May 29th, the hospitals have moved all patients and essential visitors to wear a face mask and before their scheduled appointments patients will be asked to bring a mask with them, either cloth or disposable. The hospitals sent out a press release yesterday.

President and CEO Sandy Jansen says face masks are becoming the new normal.

“Wearing a mask in public is quickly becoming our “new normal”, both in health care settings and also out in public. Anything we can do to stop COVID-19 transmission, and protect our patients and staff is worth any small inconvenience it may cause. Washing your hands, practicing physical distancing, staying home if you feel sick, and wearing a mask are important ways we can fight COVID-19 together.”

They say if patients do not have a mask when they arrive, they will be given one at the entrance.

The press release goes on to say the decision comes after the provincial government starts to relax current pandemic restrictions, and the risk for spread throughout the community and circulating COVID-19 virus may increase.

The same approach will also apply to any visitors including visiting health professionals and delivery personnel. It will also be required that staff wear masks while in the hospitals.
