Oxford Public Health encourages everyone to get the Influenza Flu Vaccination this year.

OXFORD COUNTY- To avoid getting the flu this year clinics, pharmacies and health care providers are giving out flu vaccinations.

Pharmacies can't give vaccinations out to children under 5 so this year there will be 4 clinics available for children and youth between the ages of 6 months and 17 years.

There will also be an adults only clinic on November 13th at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock.

Registered nurse for Oxford County Public Health, Susan Bruce uncovers the truth about vaccination myths.

'The flu shot is an inactivated product so you cant get sick form it you can have a sore arm localized reactions aren't that uncommon so a sore arm for a few days and it does create an immune response in the body.'
Everyone is encouraged to go out and get the vaccine."

Bruce admits there have been times where the shot hasn't protected someone from contracting the flu.

"We know that if it isn't a good match that it may not protect as well but any protection is better than no protection so that's why we encourage the flu shot."

The flu vaccine is believed to be a good match this year and everyone is encouraged to go out and get the shot.
