From School to Subdivision?

County Council will hear a proposal to change the former Westfield School into a subdivision in Ingersoll

A proposed new subdivision in Ingersoll could mean good things for town residents.

County Council will hear a motion Wednesday to change the zoning and official plan to allow for a subdivision on the former Westfield Public School property.

Mayor Ted Comiskey says going from a school, which pays no taxes, into residential could only mean good things for the town.
Comiskey says the plan was passed at their town council meeting October 15.  "What they have planned, laid out is actually a very nice subdivision lay out. It's not too tight and I think it will be very, let's say conforming to the neighbourhood, it's not going to stick out as such. They will be laying it out in a similar format to what already exists in the neighbourhood so it will fit well."

The proposed new draft plan includes 11 single detached lots, 6 residential reserve blocks, and one park block, all served by 2 new local streets.

Comiskey says he doesn't anticipate any problems getting approval at a County level.
