Fusion Youth Centre Keeps Summer Boredom at Bay

Along with their regular programming, the Fusion Youth Centre is planning special events to keep kids active and entertained this summer.

INGERSOLL - School's almost out for the summer, and the Fusion Centre is ready.

They have set up several extra activities for kids between the ages of 12 to 18.

Craig Boddy, Assistant Manager for the Centre says the kids have a lot of input.

"If they want to do an outdoor volleyball tournament, capture the flag, baseball at the local baseball diamonds - the summer is the best time of year for them to have their voice. Whatever they want to do we will pretty much do it."

Boddy talks about their plans for the summer.

"We are going to Canada's Wonderland in early August. It costs around $35, which is really cheap. We are going to be doing lots of dances and spontaneous special events. It is going to be above and beyond our regular programs."

Boddy says they will continue to run their regularly scheduled programs throughout the summer.

"All of our culinary programs that are done in our new kitchen, we have a recording studio, we have a radio broadcast booth, we have an art room, a gym, an outdoor volleyball court, a public skate park, a technology centre, multimedia lab, gaming computers. There is pretty much everything to do for every type of youth."

Boddy says this is a great place for kids to come to hang out with their friends in a safe, supervised, and structured atmosphere.

The annual fee for the Fusion Youth Centre is $5.
