GM Eyeing CAMI Expansion?

It looks like GM is kicking the tires on a future expansion at CAMI Automotive. General Motors representatives were at Ingersoll's council meeting Monday. They were asking for a site plan exemption for work to happen on the South-West Oxford side of the plant. South-West Oxford has already granted approval. GM's Corporate Communications Manager Adria MacKenzie says it's all about planning for the future. "We were seeking an exemption from the site plan control requirements for our facility in Ingersoll. We want to be doing some preliminary exploratory work to ensure that CAMI remains competitive and is in position when future product allocations are being discussed." The work includes permit application, soil sampling, and re-routing of some services all in preparation of "future competition". But workers aren't getting excited just yet, as there's word GM is also doing the same thing at some of its other plants.
