Good Samaritans Block in Drunk Driver

Police say a group of Good Samaritans blocked in a drunk driver who was three times over the legal limit, to get him off the road.

NORFOLK COUNTY - Police are thanking a group of good Samaritans who helped them pull a drunk driver off the road.

Norfolk OPP were called on Saturday afternoon from a couple of drivers about a suspected drunk driver heading south on Highway 24. The driver was so erratic that a group of Good Samaritans started to follow him and when he pulled into a driveway, they blocked him in, until police arrived.

When officers arrived they determined the man was indeed impaired and was according to the police release, three times over the legal limit and was driving under suspension. The 38 year old man from Kitchener was arrested and his vehicle was towed away from the scene.

Norfolk County Detachment Commander Joseph Varga says they want to thank the Good Samaritans who helped bring this driver off the road.

"The OPP would like to thank the Good Samaritans that assisted in bringing this incident to a successful conclusion. There is absolutely no safe level of alcohol consumption when getting behind the wheel of any vehicle."
