Public Health issues apology after a notebook with private information was stolen

OXFORD COUNTY - An apology has been issued after an Oxford Public Health 'on call' bag containing personal health information was stolen from a vehicle in London.

County officials say the bag contained public health policies and forms as well as a notebook used by health inspectors to hand-record notes from after hours calls and messages.

Officials are taking steps to identify clients whose privacy may have been compromised and say this incident has highlighted the need to review their policies around handwritten documentation.

Public Health is working with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario to ensure they are taking the right steps in handling the incident and making necessary changes to safeguard against it occurring in the future.
