The Freedom Party of Ontario announces their Oxford candidate for the provincial election

LONDON -- The Freedom Party of Ontario once again has a candidate for Oxford in the upcoming Provincial Election.

Tim Hodges says he's running for the party he identified with as a teenager.

"Politics, since I was a child has always interested me and I met a Freedom candidate at the High School I attended.  His message really seemed to resonate with me."

Since that time he's been promoted within the party and now serves on its executive and says the Freedom Party does its best to run qualified candidates in every riding in the province.

Hodges runs the internet marketing side for Forest City Surplus in London in addition to working as a consultant.

He's also been involved with the Canadian Information Processing Society, a professional organization for those in the I-T industry and served as President for the longest tenure in the society's history.

The Freedom Party of Ontario was founded on January 1st, 1984 in London in part by Robert Metz and has fielded candidates in every provincial election since 1985.  Its current leader is Paul McKeever.

The party's founding principal is based on every individual having an absolute right to his or her own life, liberty, and property. Hodges says another focus is restoring trust in government.

"Governments are not something that people trust anymore and things like colleges for trades are coming in and requiring a lot of silly regulations."

Hodges says one of the Freedom Party's main objectives in this election is to provide cheap electricity.

"That includes scrapping the expensive wind turbine contracts we have and there was a court case which said we could do that without penalty.  Balancing the budget is something that needs to be done as well and the Freedom Party has put out three balanced budgets in a row."

When he talks to farmers, Hodges says he hears about the boatloads of regulations putting a strain on producers.

He's recently toured Woodstock and Tillsonburg on his campaign, saying eliminating the gas tax and and putting beer and wine in convenience stores were just some of the issues brought forth in exchanges with residents.
