It's World First Aid Day

The Red Cross says that nearly 40 percent of Canadians have been in a situation where they've had to perform first aid. But, only 22 percent of us in Ontario are actually certified. First Aid coordinator for the Red Cross Kelly Farrell says that's why they're hosting World First Aid Day. "This year we're calling out to all Canadians to come out and get trained in first aid. Less than 18 percent of us are trained in first aid. We're saying get the skills and get the confidence so that if you have to give first aid at home you can, since 58 percent of Canadians giving first aid are at home," said Farrell. Farrell urges anyone who is not certified to come out to the Red Cross to get proper training. To find a location near you log onto www.redcross.ca
