Lawsuit Launched

An Ingersoll man and his wife named in an $18 million lawsuit

The mother of a ten year old boy left with severe brain injuries following a hit and run in London, has launched an $18 million lawsuit.

Connie Brooks has named 35 year old Toby VanLieshout of Ingersoll, along with his wife and two passengers in his vehicle as defendants for $17 million. She is also seeking an additional $1 million from her family insurer.

The suit was launched Thursday.

VanLieshout was sentenced last Friday to three and a half years for careless driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident after hitting the boy on Wexford Avenue back in October.

Tyler Brooks is expected to need 24 hour care for the remainder of his life at an estimated cost of $10 million.
