Local Cheesemakers Nominated

Four local cheesemakers could take home honours at the Canadian Cheese Grand Prix

OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County cheesemakers continue to shine on the national stage. 

With only 81 finalists selected, four local cheesemakers earned 9 nominations for the Canadian Cheese Grand Prix.
 
Bright Brand Cheese and Butter, Gunn's Hill Artisan Cheese, Local Dairy Products as well as MountainOak Cheese all made the cut. 
 
Judging in the 27 categories took place between February 21 and 22 with winners announced on the Gala of Champions April 22. 
 
268 cheeses were submitted across the country.
 
Local nominations include:
  • Swiss-type Cheese: Handeck by Gunn’s Hill Artisan Cheese
  • Mozzarella (ball brick or cylinder) or Pasta Filata: Oaxaca by Local Dairy Products
  • Gouda (aged 1-6 months): Farmstead Premium Dutch Medium by Mountainoak
  • Aged Gouda: Farmstead Premium Dutch Aged by Mountainoak
  • Extra Aged Gouda: Farmstead Premium Dutch Gold by Mountainoak
  • Firm Cheese (except Cheddar & Gouda): Asiago by Bright Cheese & Butter Mfg.
  • Flavoured Cheese with Added Non-particulate Flavouring: Tipsy by Gunn’s Hill Artisan Cheese
  • Old Cheddar (Aged from 9 Months to a Year): Old Cheddar by Bright Cheese & Butter Mfg.
  • Farmhouse Cheese: Farmstead Premium Dutch Gold by Mountainoak & Handeck by Gunn’s Hill Artisan Cheese
