The Woodstock Curling Club has received a grant from the Trillium Foundation for $150,000. Member of the Board of Directors Judy Farlow says they needed the money after their ice equipment broke last year, causing a delay in the season.

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Curling Club would like to extend an invitation to all who would like to attend their recognition event for a grant for $150,000 they received from the Trillium Foundation.

Member of the Board of Directors Judy Farlow says they needed the money after their ice equipment broke last year, causing a delay in the season.
"It allowed us to update our ice making equipment which was really old and unreliable, so we were able to update it and improve the consistency of our ice to continue to offer all the great programs we offer."

The Recognition Event they are hosting will be held at the Curling Club this Friday at 6 PM and it is open to anyone who would like to come and try out the new ice, with people like local MPP Ernie Hardeman and Woodstock City Councillor Jerry Machine attending the event.

Farlow explains the problems they have had to face before the grant.

"The past couple of years we have had many major equipment failures that have interrupted the curling season which put a lot of pressure on our budget."

Farlow says they are excited for the new season with the new ice making equipment and they have a really cool new program to get kids into curling.

"We have a learn to curl program for kids 6 and up its Tuesday evenings and it starts around 5:30."

So if you want to go or can make it go to the Curling club this Friday at 6 and for more information go to their website at www.woodstockcurling.com.
