Making Ontario Greener, One Tree At A Time

Landowners looking to add a little more greenery to their property could receive help from Forest Ontario

Forest Ontario's 50 Million Trees Program has officially been backed by Brant County's Tree Conservation Committee.

The program encourages residents to plant more trees on their land in order to increase their property value and create a living legacy. Brant County Councillor Dave Miller explains how planting a tree can benefit the environment.

"They help mitigate storm run off and things like that, never mind providing a home to wildlife, purifying the air and water."

Miller tells Heart FM you don't have to be a Brant County resident to participate in this program.

"It's for anyone that has 2.5 acres of clear land. They can apply for funding - they obviously have to go to the website and get a good portion of it covered."

The funds provided by the tree planting subsidy would help cover the cost of purchasing the trees and the planting.

More information including how to apply for the tree planting subsidy can be found on the Forests Ontario website.
