Making The Short List

Brant County and the City of Brantford are bidding hard after making the short list to host the 2021, Ontario 55+ Winter Games.

BRANT COUNTY - Brant County and the City of Brantford have been short listed in their joint bid to host the 2021, Ontario 55+ Winter Games.

The tourism departments from both municipalities have been working hard on the bid and were told last week they have made the short list.

Supervisor of Tourism and Special Events for Brant County Russell Press says the plan would be to host a number of events in Paris and Brantford.

"These games if we're fortunate enough to win the bid will bring even more light to the county of Brant, Scotland and Paris. The municipalities that host the games which would be the city and county of Brand, if we win the bid would show an economic impacted of over $2 million estimated."

Press, also adds on the the positive influence it would have on locals.

"When they see other people from around the province coming in and participating at such a high level of sportsmanship, they'll go out there and think you know we can do this. Its more an opportunity to pull our communities together, pull our citizens together and celebrate healthy living and that's really what we want to do."

Press says the region has proved they can handle the event after the success of the 2017 Ontario ParaSport Winter Games.
