Man Attempts to Steal From Cars At Police Station

It was a short stroll for police as they arrested a man attempting to steal from staff vehicles parked at the Woodstock Police Station.

WOODSTOCK - Breaking into cars is bad enough, but one man attempted to boldly steal from officers at their own detachment.

This morning around 1:30 a.m. a 41 year old man walked around to the back door of the Woodstock Police Station, pressed the buzzer, and asked to speak with an officer. The man was told he would have to circle around to the front entrance that is open to the public.

The man did not do so, instead he walked back into the staff parking lot and began to enter and rifle through staff members vehicles while officers watched him on video surveillance. Once he had nabbed everything he could from the first car, he moved onto another.

As officers approached the man he tried to walk away. When the cops told him they had been able to watch his antics through the cameras he denied the allegations. He was quickly arrested and the police recovered their stolen items.

This man is known to police and was charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and two counts of failing to comply with probation.
