Marching For Women's Rights

The community will wear red in support of all women's rights, equality and injustice at the Museum Square this Saturday.

WOODSTOCK - Crowds will gather for the Women's March in Woodstock.

People will be marching across the country, including at Museum Square, this Saturday.

Organizer Kate Leatherbarrow says they're supporting women's rights across Canada.

"We want to march for women's rights, reproductive rights and women's health because women's rights are in fact human rights. Disability rights, environmental justice and much more."

She adds the community will wear red in support of all women's rights, including violence against Indigenous women. She says you can wear any kind of item, including a hat and jacket.

"Let's help raise awareness regarding the disproportionate violence against Indigenous women and girls in Canada and that we stand with them and respect their values."

This is the second annual Women's March in the Friendly City. Leatherbarrow says the march will make its way across town at 11:30am.

"We'll go all the way, we'll stay on the sidewalk, keeping children on the inside, and we'll walk all the way down Norwich Ave and Dundas where the 7-Eleven is. We'll go across the street and march back to the Square."

The event starts at 11:00am.
