The City of Woodstock to show game 4 of Stanley Cup final on two big screens

WOODSTOCK - As cup fever sweeps across Woodstock, the City is planning a series of special events to show our pride and you're invited to participate.

Two Woodstock natives will be represented during the Stanley Cup final, Jake Muzzin who plays for the Los Angeles Kings, as well as Brad Kovachik who will be officiating the series with the New York Rangers.

Manager of Communications and Special Events for the City of Woodstock, Brad Janssen says the two have represented Woodstock well and they deserve a special honour.

"We are going to be showing the games, starting with game 4 on the 11th of June on two big screens at the Southwood Arena, Woodstock and District Community Complex. Doors will open 30 minutes before the puck drops and Brad Kovachik starts his involvement with game 4 so that's why we decided to start it then."

Janssen says they hope to get a big crowd out.

"We are going to start with game 4 and every subsequent game til the cup is awarded and of course we are going to invite the Muzzin family and the Kovachik's as well and just celebrate their involvement in Canada's national sport."

"Muzzin has certainly had a wonderful season and is a force to be reckoned with for the Kings. Kovachik having a great 2014 having officiated at the Sochi Winter Olympics and now being chosen as one of the linesmen in the final so we are quite excited. They represent Woodstock well and have done so in their pro careers."

Janssen says there is no charge to the public but donations will be accepted for the Alf Langdon Foundation which partners with Big Brothers Big Sisters who help out children who cannot afford minor hockey registration or equipment.
