Night With the Noxons Features Ingersoll Pipe Band

Hear the history of the Ingersoll Pipe Band and their role in World War I during "Night with the Noxons"

INGERSOLL - The latest Oxford Remembers Oxford's Own event in Ingersoll will dig down to the Scottish roots and feature the Ingersoll Pipe Band.

The Night with the Noxons will feature the origin stories of the band and two guest speakers. Scott Gillies, the Curator of the Ingersoll Cheese and Agriculture Museum, tells us about one of the speakers:

"Professor George Emery is the son of a doctor from Ingersoll and George is a history professor at the University of Western Ontario. He has written several books on Oxford County and one in particular deals with the history of the Noxon Company, the Noxon Foundry, that was started by a group of Noxon brothers."

The other speaker will be Wilson McBeath. Gillies say McBeath will be talking about his own personal experiences.

"He has been a piper for probably 70 years I would say at this point, if not longer. Blessed with a tremendous memory he's able to recount various stories and tales, individuals he has known in his lifetime."

It is the perfect opportunity for anyone, whether they have Scottish heritage or not, to learn more about the history of the band.

Gillies adds the band has been making the town of Ingersoll proud over the past 106 years.

"If you think of Ingersoll you often think of Ingersoll Pipe Band. They are true representatives of the community; they have represented Ingersoll and Oxford County around the world. They have preformed in the United States at numerous functions, they have preformed in Taiwan."

The night will kick off at 7pm on Saturday at the Ingersoll Pipe Band Armoury - 108 Wonham Street South.
