PARIS - Brant OPP ended up arresting a drunk driver after getting a tip from the public. 

Police were called on Tuesday afternoon about an erratic driver on highway 403 near Paris Road. Officers patrolling the area stopped the vehicle and investigated. The 49 year old driver, from London was charged with impaired driving. They are scheduled to appear in a Brantford courtroom at a later date.

"There is absolutely no safe level of alcohol or drug consumption when getting behind the wheel of any motor vehicle. Please plan ahead, arrange a designated driver or stay overnight. Do not risk your life of the lives of innocent drivers and pedestrians." - Inspector Lisa Anderson, Brant County OPP Detachment Commander.

PARIS - Brant County OPP are reminding residents to remove valuables from their vehicles after several break ins.

Police investigated several incidents of mischief and thefts at various homes in Paris at approximately 5:22 a.m on Thursday.

The unknown suspects went to the homes in the early hours of the morning and broke into several locked vehicles by smashing out a window and getting inside. Once inside, they stole various items, that consisted of personal and financial information including passports, health cards, credit cards, computers, iPads, and gift certificates.

The investigation is ongoing and they are asking for help from the public.

STRATFORD - Police have arrested a 32 year-old Stratford man on numerous charges, including break and enter.

Officers received a call Thursday at 8:20 a.m. when they received a complaint of a man in a white Ford F150 with broken windows outside of Lorne Avenue Salvage, located at 706 Lorne Avenue in Stratford. 

Police learned he had broken into the salvage yard and had been moving items around inside. Officers entered the salvage yard and the man jumped the fence at the opposite end and fled. He was found at the Stratford Municipal Golf Course where he gave a false name to officers before fleeing on once again.

Several officers were able to contain the area and the man was found and arrested at 8:45 a.m. 

Upon further investigation, police learned that the pick-up truck had been reported stolen from Waterloo on September 6. Also, its licence plates had been stolen from a business in Mississauga. 

Inside the truck, officers found other stolen items as well a syringe containing suspected methamphetamine.

The suspect was identified as 32-year-old Craig Somerville of Stratford. He was found to be breaching several conditions of a recognizance he was bound by, and probation order, for similar offences.

Somerville has been charged with numerous offences, including break
and enter, possession of stolen property, obstructing police, resisting arrest, breach of
recognizance and breach of probation. 

He was held in custody to attend a bail hearing on September 13th.

PARIS - Brant County OPP are investigating a break and enter that occurred at a home on Spruce Street in Paris.

Police were called to the scene on Wednesday at approximately 9:35 a.m, when they learned the unknown suspects went to the home in between Tuesday and Wednesday and broke into a secured compound by damaging a fence.

Once they were inside, they stole approximately 200 used brake rotors, which is valued at approximately $400.00. 

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking for help from the public. If anyone has any information they're asked to contact Brant OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
