Oxford County Council Elects New Warden

Oxford County Council has elected Norwich Township Mayor Larry Martin as their next Warden and Woodstock County Councillor Sandra Talbot as Deputy Warden.

OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Council has elected a new Warden and Deputy Warden for the upcoming 2018-2022 council term.

Norwich Township Mayor Larry Martin was elected Warden at the inaugural meeting last night and Woodstock Councillor Sandra Talbot is the Deputy Warden. Martin was nominated for the Warden position along with Ingersoll Mayor Ted Comiskey and East Zorra Tavistock Mayor Don McKay. Comiskey was eliminated in the first round of voting and then Martin beat out McKay in the second round to take the position. This is Martin's second term on Oxford County Council and he is excited about his new position.

"I look forward to working with our new Council, including our two new members, to see what we can do together to move Oxford forward. It is my hope to accomplish as much in the next four years as we have over the past four, and continue to build a united, strong and prosperous Oxford County."

Deputy Warden Talbot says she is excited to return to the role she held previously last term.

"Having served a term as Deputy Warden last term, I appreciate the opportunity to again support the Warden and Council. It is an honour and pleasure to serve to the best of my ability for benefit of our community."

County Council comes in under new remuneration terms approved for January 1, 2019. Effective on that date, the Warden position will be compensated at $103,142, the Deputy Warden at $34,037, and County Councillors at $28,880.
