Oxford OPP Briefs – July 14th

Oxford OPP briefs include a suspicious man, eight different thefts and two cases of mischief.

 

INGERSOLL - Oxford OPP have charged a man after they responded to what they call a suspicious incident.

 

A citizen noticed the man acting suspiciously on John Street in Ingersoll Wednesday morning, so they decided to report it to police. Officers managed to arrest the man and take him into custody.

 

After investigating they charged 38 year old Michael Aaron Turner of Ingersoll with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, mischief under $5,000 and disturbing the peace.

OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford OPP are investigating eight different thefts that have taken place over the past couple of days.

 

Two ATV's have been reported stolen from two different properties. Police recieved a report of the first ATV theft – a 2013, green coloured, Arctic Cat 700 shortly after midnight Tuesday morning.  It's valued at approximately $8,500 and it was parked behind a shed on 1st Line in Zorra Township when it was taken.

 

The other stolen ATV is a 2008, black coloured, Honda TRX420, valued at approximately $5,000. Police say the suspect in this case entered an unlocked barn on 1st Line in Zorra-Tavistock Township early that same morning.

 

Officers are also investigating the theft of a battery from a riding lawnmower. They believe the suspect entered an open car port on Vandercar Line in Norwich Township sometime between Monday and Wednesday.

 

An iPad, men's watch, Canadian currency and a women's green coloured wallet with personal and financial information have been reported stolen from a home on Wilson Avenue in Tillsonburg. Police believe that break and enter theft took place sometime between Monday and Tuesday.

 

OPP are also investigating four reports thefts from vehicles throughout the county.

 

A custom trailer hitch with a built in step was stolen from the back of a pick up truck on Loveys Street East in East Zorra-Tavistock Township Tuesday.

 

A rear license plate was taken off a car on Bell Street in Ingersoll on Wednesday.

 

A toque, gloves, a pair of prescription sunglasses and a wallet with personal and financial information were taken from a vehicle on Charlotte Avenue in Tillsonburg yesterday.

 

Lastly a Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone was taken from a vehicle in the Shopper Drug Mart parking lot on Broadway in Tillsonburg yesterday.

TILLSONBURG - OPP are looking into two different cases of mischief; both in Tillsonburg.

 

Officers recieved the first report early Tuesday morning. They say someone cut the screening on a backyard sunporch and moved a brick from a flower bed and placed it on top of the barbeque. Nothing appears to have been taken.

 

Police were called out to the second incident at around 12pm Wednesday. They say someone spray painted a garage on Tillson Avenue earlier that morning.
