Police Confirm Deadly Drug Hits Woodstock Streets

Woodstock Police and Health Canada are officially confirming the presence of bootleg fentanyl in the Friendly City.

WOODSTOCK - Bootleg fentanyl has officially hit Woodstock.

The Woodstock Police are confirming the presence of the deadly drug after sending two samples of a powdered substance to Health Canada for analysis. The first sample was seized in October of 2016 and was being hailed by the street name 'popcorn.' The second sample was being passed off as heroin.

Detective Sergeant Becks reports four other seizures have been submitted to Health Canada for testing so far this year.

Police urge everyone to be aware of the symptoms associated with opioid overdose including slow or erratic breathing, blue lips and fingernails, unconsciousness, deep snoring or a gurgling sound, pin point pupils, and vomiting.
