Protect Your Property Day

A special Crime Prevention booklet is available to local residents

WOODSTOCK - Protect Your Property Day was celebrated by law enforcement across the province Wednesday and police have issued a friendly reminder to keep your house and belongings safe.

Woodstock Police Community Service Officer Steven McEwen ....

McEwen says that break and enters are always the most popular crime and it's important for those travelling not to give out too much information about them being away from home.

"It is winter time and people are going on vacation, not advertising over social media that we are going to be away on vacation is key , and that you need to do something to protect your property."

By performing simple tasks like locking doors and windows, McEwen says it can go a long way in protecting your property and that the Woodstock Police have provided a booklet to keep crime prevention simple.

"If you go to our website and the crime prevention booklet is on the main page people can get it there you can find is information about how to protect your property, information on bullying, elder abuse, and things like that."

According to the police it is important to not let your guard down if you want to protect not only your property but also your valuables all year long .
