Pushy Sales People

Woodstock Police have some tips for homeowners after receiving two reports of pushy door to door sales people.

WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police want you to keep a few things in mind when dealing with door to door sales people.

Sergeant Don McKenzie says they received two reports of aggressive sales people this past weekend. If you feel uncomfortable about these kinds of deals do not let them into your house and take note of the company that they are representing.

The Province of Ontario has protection under the Consumers Protection Act that can be found on the provinces website.

- If you are dealing with a salesman, make sure to ask for photo ID and get the name of their business.
- Try to compare the company name and promotional material with the business card to make sure everything adds up.
- You don't have to sign any contract up front, and the salesperson must leave if you ask them to.
- Also keep in mind local municipalities, utility companies, government agencies and regulatory organizations don't send sales people to your door.
