Renton Chief Designate

Inspector Bill Renton will take over when Chief Rod Freeman retires from the Woodstock Police Service

WOODSTOCK - We now know who will take over for Chief Rod Freeman when he retires.

The Woodstock Police Service Board is announcing Inspector Bill Renton will be named Chief Designate and take on the role November 19 ahead of becoming Chief of Police January 1.

Renton has been the Inspector of Operations with the Woodstock Police Service since July of 2010 but had an extensive 30 year career with OPP and Haldimand Norfolk Regional Police prior to that.

Current Chief Rod Freeman says he has full confidence that Renton will provide strong and effective leadership for the men and women of the service while working to ensure the continued safety of the community for many years to come.
