Shocking Evidence Was Never Heard by Jury

WARNING: Report contains graphic contents The jury deciding the fate of the man accused of killing Victoria Stafford is now deliberating, but there is a lot about the man they don't know. Court documents show a laptop belonging to Michael Rafferty was used to search online for "real underage rape" and "nude preteen." The Crown contends Rafferty also downloaded "substantial" amounts of child pornography, and there was evidence of snuff films on his laptop. A woman he met online alleged that he drugged, choked and raped her. And a litany of past dates reported he had a penchant for sexual choking. But the jury knows none of that, in part because the warrant police used to search Rafferty's computer was declared unconstitutional. Much of the evidence was also excluded because it's considered "bad character" evidence, which is usually inadmissible under a principle that a person's bad character doesn't necessarily mean they committed the crime in question.
