Snow Buddies in Brant County

With snowy weather expected for this week, Brant County encourages citizens to consider the Snow Buddies program

COUNTY OF BRANT - Brant County is encouraging all kids 12 and older and grown ups alike to become a Snow Buddy for those in need.

The region is expected to receive an abundance of lake effect snow this coming week, according to the Weather Network. It is of utmost importance that driveways and sidewalks are cleared of snow during the winter, for the sake of citizens' safety, although the task can be easier said than done for some.

"This year, we have a record number of citizens requesting help shovelling driveways and walkways," said Sarah Dredge, Recreation Coordinator for the County of Brant. "We need your help."

Snow Buddies is a program in which one person is grouped with another to help with snow removal in the community. They may receive volunteer hours and even a small pay for their service.

"Last year, the Snow Buddies Program was a great success," said Greg Bergeron, Supervisor of Enforcement and Regulatory Services. "The Snow Buddies Program fostered many important community relationships."

To sign up to become a Snow Buddy, or to request a Snow Buddy of your own, please contact Sarah Dredge, Recreation Coordinator for the County of Brant at 519-442-1818 x 3254 or sarah.dredge@brant.ca. The City of Woodstock also runs a snow buddies program. You can read more about that online here.
