Snowfall Warning Issued for Oxford County

Environment Canada says some areas in Oxford County could be in for about 2 to 5 centimetres of snow per hour this morning. All of the school buses have been cancelled.

OXFORD COUNTY - A snowfall warning is currently in effect for Oxford County.

The snow started last night and Environment Canada says we could see about 15 to 25 centimetres by the time it ends this evening.

Some areas could be in for about 2 to 5 centimetres per hour this morning. We could also see some blowing snow, which could make it very hard to see one the roads out there. It's also very slippery so make sure you drive carefully if you have to go anywhere today.

This is all thanks to a low pressure system that's tracking south of the Great Lakes.

Closures and Cancellations

Southwestern Ontario Student Transportation Services has cancelled all of the school buses for Oxford County and Elgin County this morning due to the snow. This will affect students within the TVDSB and the LDSCB and both school boards have confirmed that their schools will be open today.

Francobus has also decided to cancel all buses for Ste. Marguerite-Bourgeoys and Notre Dame in Woodstock and CSC Providence says the schools will be open today. All of the buses for Woodstock Christian School have been cancelled as well and the school is closed for the day.

Woodstock Transit is running on a 45 minute schedule this morning due to the weather.

All CMHA offices in Oxford County will be closed today and those in need of crisis services can contact Reach Out by calling 519-433-2023 or toll free at 1-800-933-2023.

The Salvation Army Church will be closed today along with the local thrift stores and family services.

The Woodstock Public Library is open but it will be closing at 5:00 p.m. today due to the weather.
