Southwestern Public Confirms 4 New Cases of COVID-19 Today

Three of the new cases confirmed this morning from Southwestern Public Health are from the City of Woodstock.

OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Southwestern Public Health is reporting four new cases of COVID-19 this morning.  

3 of the new cases confirmed today are from Woodstock and we currently have 9 active cases in the region. Here is the breakdown of numbers according to Southwestern Public Health:

Woodstock - 7

Bayham - 1

Central Elgin - 1 

To date we have had four institutional outbreaks at Long Term Care Homes. All four are listed as resolved. 5 people from the region have died from the virus and right now we have two people in the ICU. 

The number one symptom that has led to a positive test in the region is a cough, followed by a fever. Other symptoms that have resulted in positive tests include fatigue, headache, sore throat, shortness of breath and nasal congestion just to name a few. 17% of people who have tested positive in our region were asymptomatic. Right now we have 2 COVID-19 patients in the hospital with the virus and both are in the ICU.
