The Woodstock Rockers will take part in the Recharge with Milk tankard in Dorchester.

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Rockers are off to represent the South West Region of Ontario at the Recharge with Milk Tankard in Dorchester next month.

As head coach Darlene Wood highlights, the Special Olympics team won their way to the championship game January 3rd in Ilderton at the South West Tankard Qualifiers.

According to Wood, the team, consisting of Justin Bierma - Skip, Ryan Mates - Vice-Skip, Adam Alexander - Second, Amanda Dean - Lead and Rob Farrington- Lead, is really ecstatic to play in the championships. "Last year the team managed to get to the second level of competition which prior to that they hadn't been able to get to that, so they worked really, really hard in the last two years and getting to represent South West Region of Ontario at a provincial level is really quite something so yeah...we're really excited and looking forward to the day."

The team competes on Saturday February 7th at 5:00 pm at the Flight Exec Centre in Dorchester.

Wood is encouraging the community to come and cheer on our local competitors. "We've got all kinds of good stuff going on that day, curlers from all over Ontario will be there.  Of course it's the Men's Provincial Championship so right after our game is the semi-final game of the week's championship and it's a really good opportunity to support Special Olympics in Oxford County, out of Woodstock and all over for that matter."

The tankard is being hosted by the Ingersoll Curling Club - tickets can be purchased through the website, ingersollcurlingclub.ca.
