Student Centre Helping Youth with Summer Job Search

The Student Centre inside Woodstock’s Community Employment Service building is assisting students in their summer job search.

Some Oxford County students are fresh out of school and they might be on the lookout for a summer job. Community Employment Service's has opened up their Student Centre in order to help with the job search.

The centre provides registered students with job postings. The opportunities are posted on their Student Board and they are also shared on their Instagram and Snapchat accounts under the username ces_oxford.

They also help students create proper resumes and cover letters. Student Coordinator Georgina Culley says they even help students prepare for job interviews.

"I actually had a student in today who I helped with the formatting of answers and possible questions employers would ask so she could calm her nerves."

Students are also directed towards the Youth Job Connection Summer and the Youth Job Link programs; both offered through Community Employment Services.

Culley tells Heart FM they have had a pretty good success rate so far.

"This summer we've had approximately 30 students apply and register with the Student Centre and 12 of those have got the job already in those last three weeks we have been open."

The centre is located within Woodstock's Community Employment Service building on 40 Metcalfe Street. Their hours are listed below;

Monday: 8:30am - 4pm

Tuesday: 8:30am - 4pm

Wednesday: 8:30am - 7pm

Thursday: 8:30am - 4pm

Friday: 8:30am - 4pm

Saturday: 9am - 12pm
