The Choralaires Bring Silver Screen To Life

The Woodstock Choralaires (submitted)

The Woodstock Choralaires spring concert will pay homage to some of the greatest songs in movie history.

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Choralaires will bring classic movies to life on stage at their spring concert this year.

What a Glorious Feeling: The Golden Age of the Silver Screen will feature popular from movies in the 40's 50's and 60's.

Elizabeth Lemon has been a Choralaire for 12 years. She says people of all ages will be able to enjoy the show.

"I think a lot of the songs we do are ones that are still being sung; It Might As Well Be Spring, You Can't Take That Away From Me, You Say Potato and I Say Potato, Let's Call The Whole Thing Off and Singin' In the Rain of course! It's just a lot of music that everyone will enjoy."

Lemon says the 65 person choir will tunes from classic movies including the Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain and The Jazz Singer.

"We've got about 30 different pieces of song. Some of them are in medleys so it's not too overpowering but we do have a lot of music. Some of the arrangements are new but I think a lot of people in the audience will be singing along with us because they will know the songs."

Two shows scheduled at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church this Saturday; a matinee at 2pm and an evening performance at 7:30pm. Tickets are $25 for adults or $12 for kids and they can be purchased online, a Merrifield Book Shop or from any Choralaire member.
