The Tavistock Braves Head To The Finals

Only one team left standing from Oxford County in the PJHL playoffs.

TAVISTOCK - For the first time ever, the Tavistock Braves will play in the Junior C Doherty Division Finals.

Tavistock earned the right after sweeping Woodstock in the semi finals in decisive fashion. Woodstock actually had Tavistock's number in the regular season, so it was a bit of a surprise to see them get swept in the semi finals. Tavistock and Woodstock had been part of a three way battle for first place all season with Ayr.

President Tim Trachsel says the Braves had the benefit of starting to really gel together at the right time.

"I think the boys are playing as a group, they are playing as one, they really gelled together, the boys all worked really great together, they really bonded as friends, I think that is the main thing, they really bonded through the year. I think that is a big part of it, if they know how each other reacts and acts and they are all focused, I think that's a big part of it. They had a plan against Woodstock and they executed it, they really wanted to win that series."

Tavistock will are now waiting to see if they will face the Ayr Centennials in the finals or the Paris Mounties. Trachsel says the key right now is keeping everybody focused while they play the waiting game.

"They are going to keep practicing, some of the boys have a few bumps and bruises and will have some time to heal. I imagine the coaching staff will going to the games between Paris and Ayr,and figure out a strategy on how to win this thing."

Trachsel says he doesn't think they will even make a schedule for the finals until after March 4th. Ayr currently leads their best of 7 series with Paris 2 games to 1.
