Think Before You Post

Oxford OPP are reminding motorists to not post videos and pictures of vehicle collisions to social media.

Oxford OPP are reminding people to 'Think Before You Post' after a six car collision on the 401 near Dillion Road.

The warning comes after motorists took footage of a six-car crash that happened on the 401 near Dillion Street on July 30th.

Chatham-Kent OPP and fire services noticed drivers using their cell phones to take pictures and videos of the incident, and one man claimed he lived streamed a video from the crash.

The collision resulted in two deaths after a tractor trailer collided with 5 cars already stopped on the highway due to a separate incident.

OPP want drivers to know that notification by death of social media is wrong and that people should put themselves in the shoes of the deceased's family.

Officers ask people to resist the urge to look when passing a collision; not only does it slow traffic further, but it could also result in you causing another collision.

Oxford OPP would like to remind local drivers that using cellphones to take photos at collision scenes can be charged with distracted driving.

The set fine for Distracted Driving is $490 which includes a victim surcharge and a court fee, along with 3 demerit points.

Remember: Think Before You Post.
