Throne Speech

New rules could be coming for TV providers and the airline industry

There's word from Parliament Hill today that Wednesday's throne speech feature a few items directed at longstanding complaints from Canadian consumers.

The speech is expected to focus on job creation and the economy.

It will also reportedly include rules that would force cable and satellite TV providers to adopt a pick-and-pay price model in addition to bundled plans.  Also expect details about an airline passenger bill of rights.

But the opposition parties say the new measures are only an attempt to distract Canadians from the ongoing Senate expense scandal.
