Tillsonburg Council Support Solar Rooftops

The town of Tillsonburg has taken the next steps to becoming greener and more environmentally responsible. After reviewing regulations, they decided to support Rooftop Solar Projects. During their last meeting, council heard from the Solar Power Network, but needed more time to investigate further. They found that the solar roof-top installation is safe and abides by the building code. The town's Mayor John Lessif says it'll help local businesses; "the idea is for business to benefit from reduced energy costs which makes them more competitive in the marketplace, so that's the upside for the business directly and indirectly for the town". The Long Point Conservation Authority was one of two approved to construct and operate a solar roof on their office. Each business wanting a solar roof will have to apply through council. Lessif says this is a good sign that the Ministry of Energy is giving some control back to municipalities.
