Toyota Recall

Roughly 2.7 million vehicles made from 2005-2010 in North America are being recalled because of a power window defect.

Toyota is recalling about 2.7 million vehicles in North America because of a defect in the power window switch.

The defect is in a number of models including, Corolla, Camry, and the Yaris/Vitz subcompact cars, Matrix, RAV4, Tundra, Highlander and Scion xB built between January 2005 and 2010. Toyota says the problem is with the power master switch, which may have been lubricated inconsistently during the manufacturing process. Wear from the electrical contact points can accumulate and cause a short circuit which cause the switch assembly to overheat and melt over time. In a worst case scenario it could even cause a fire.

The recall impacts 6.5 million vehicles globally with an estimated 2.7 million in North America.
