The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority have sent out an alert reminding the public to stay away from all bodies of water this weekend.

OXFORD COUNTY - The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority is reminding the public to be cautious over the next few days, as rain and warmer temperatures will cause local streams, lakes and rivers to rise.

In a press release, the UTRCA watershed says we're expected to get up to 20 millimetres of rain due to warmer temperatures.

The UTRCA says does not expect major flooding but streams may rise to levels that occurred at the beginning of February.

They're encouraging the public to take extreme caution and stay off all bodies of water. Banks adjacent to rivers and creeks are very slippery and, when combined with cold, fast-moving water, pose a serious hazard.

They also ask all parents to keep their children and pets away from all bodies of water, including flood control reservoirs.
