Violence at Home Signal for Help

The "Violence at Home Signal for Help" is a safe hand signal to use when video calling friends, family or coworkers as a way to silently signal you need help without leaving any digital evidence.

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police are hoping to help educate the public about the "Violence at Home Signal for Help."

They shared this message on their social media feeds yesterday:

Throughout a pandemic while many people are isolated at home, there could be an increase in violence and abuse in the home. Additionally, it becomes much more difficult to safely ask for help when the abuser is home more due to the pandemic.

That's why The Canadian Women's Foundation developed the "Violence at Home Signal for Help." A safe hand signal to use when video calling friends, family or coworkers as a way to silently signal you need help without leaving any digital evidence for seeking help.

If you see the hand signal, know someone is reaching out to you for help.
