WIND Blows Into Woodstock

There's a new WIND blowing into Woodstock. WIND Mobile is set to launch its wireless network in the Woodstock area, and will be opening a Dundas St. store (423 Dundas St.) by the end of the month. WIND's CEO, Tony Lacavera tells Heart FM they've been building up cellular networks across the country, including adding towers in our area. "In order to offer Canadians a real choice in wireless, we're building out all of our own infrastructure. So what we've been doing in the Woodstock area is locating sites where we can build our own cell antennas and cell towers. Ultimately, we'll join those networks together so there's seamless coverage along the 401." Part of WIND mobile's launch is a 5-thousand dollar grant to a deserving community initiative. It's called the "WINDthanks Community Grant", and is open right now for applications. It's open to local charities and organizations that have projects that need funding. The WINDthanks Community Grant winner will be announced on September 5th, during an official launch. Organizations and charities can apply for the grant on their Facebook page by clicking here. Details are also available on their website, click here for more information. Entries need to outline the name of the organization, contact details, and a 500 word project outline indicating how the project will benefit the community. Entries must be submitted by Noon on August 30th.
