Woodall Recreation Complex Moves Forward

A challenge to the Woodall Recreation Complex has been dropped, allowing the project to move forward this fall.

WOODSTOCK - Three new baseball diamonds are going to be built in Woodstock at the brand new Woodall Recreation Centre.

Woodstock City Council has been told an appeal to the OMB to stop the complex from being built at the old farm site on Devonshire Avenue has been dropped. This means construction on the three new ball diamonds will start this September. Councillor Jerry Acchione tells Heart FM he is thrilled to see this project move forward and says it is something we need in Woodstock. "Very excited, during my campaign this was something that was asked about quite often and everybody seems to want it, so this is good news - very good news."

Acchione says the ball diamonds are just phase one of what they hope will be a five phase project. In the future they would like to see five ball diamonds, a new rec centre with ice rinks and a community pool, walking trails, and a basketball court. Each phase will be done separately and all that is guaranteed right now is the three ball diamonds.

The estimated cost to do the entire project is about $24 million dollars.
