Woodstock Mayor Looks Back at 2016

The Friendly City has been through a lot this year, but Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch is looking forward to 2017

WOODSTOCK - It has been a very eventful year in Woodstock and the mayor is looking back on some of the positive work that has been done in the city in 2016.

Council has approved more services for youth in the city throughout the year. A lot of construction work has been done on the Woodstock Police Station as well. The public transit hours have also been extended and Mayor Trevor Birtch says a lot of people have been taking advantage of it.

"We've heard from so many people in the community how great this is! They can get out to community events, and volunteer after work, and the young people can stay at the library and still get a ride home."

Council recently approved a capital budget for 2017 which includes an addition to the Parkinson Street Fire Hall and roof replacements for the Woodstock Museum and Fanshawe College.

Birtch tells Heart FM energy will be a hot topic in the New Year.

"There will be continued discussions that will help homeowners and businesses to take control of their own electricity bill and how to handle all the energy they use."

Woodstock's residents will also be able to participate in a survey about the city's waste collection methods.
